'Book' Covering the Creative Process

January 06, 2013

Design students from the 91ÇÑ×Ó's College of Art & Design (OCAD) prepped the final touches on their book covers for an upcoming gallery exhibit scheduled later this month.  The showcase will present a series of student work utilizing typography, photography, arts & crafts, and icons.

As part of the Graphic Design 2 Concept course, students explore the process of experimentation and creation as they engage in the creative process that involves planning, exploration, and building.

For 91ÇÑ×Ó design students, the designing process for book covers placed them into a voyage through ideation, conception, exploration, and implementation.  Working off a given short description, students work through conceptual ideas before refining their final selection into a cover, which includes the title, subtitle, and author.  Research was needed in finding the right type classifications and typefaces combined with photography and images.
